The Spekker family belonged to the Hausmannstand in Rheiderland who were entitled to take part in the state parliaments. The Family continues to thrive to this day in different lines and branches of the family.

Our history
The first documented people of Surnames in Rheiderland are Johann & Aeve Spekker. At this point in time, it cannot be clarified with certainty where the family originally came from.
Since 1595 at the latest the family had their residence in Stapelmoor and was considered a so-called Hausmanns family, belonged to the estate that was eligible for the state parliament in East Frisia. It is documented that the name "Spekker" with Johan and Aeve first appeared in Rheiderland, the spelling with double K only became established around 1800.

Second edition of the family chronicle planned!
After the first edition was sold out all too quickly, there will now be a second and revised edition in the new year.
In the 1950s, the 1980s and in the early 90s there were several attempts to create a comprehensive family chronicle, so now in 2022 it has been successful.
The book has a total of 510 pages and can be ordered for €45.
